Qualifications:

Initially elected to the Faculty Senate filling the remaining term for departing faculty member Bill Chittenden in Spring 2024 and later elected to serve as the Faculty Senate secretary ever since. Have represented the Texas State Faculty Senate on various university committees/projects along with the Texas Council of Faculty Senates and the Texas State University System.

Have served on various local/regional/national boards of directors and foundations for decades at ALL Levels/Positions and have either held or ended up being the group’s secretary taking minutes, logging all motions and keeping track of action items. Additionally, currently serving as a Current (and Past President) for the Foundation for IT Education which also manages and produces IT competition events.

Within McCoy College, have been serving as the chair (and minute taker) for the Governance Committee since Spring 2024. Also serve as the faculty advisor (20+ years) for the ITSA student organization (IT Students of America) working directly with the officers encouraging them to be good leaders, effectively run the chapter’s operations and activities, excel at all IT competition events, and produce the annual IT symposium high-school event.


Ivilina Popova (Finance & Economics) Faculty Profile

Ivilina Popova is originally from Bulgaria where she received BS degree in Mathematics and MS in Operations Research. After the fall of the Iron Curtain in Europe, Ivilina came to America as a PhD student at Case Western Reserve University. After receiving a PhD in Operations Research, she held academic positions at Purdue University and Seattle University. Her industry background includes positions as director at Deutsche Bank in New York, head of equity trading desk at Koch Capital Markets in Houston and a partner at a hedge fund in Austin. Ivilina has more than 25 years of academic experience, publications in top finance journals and has held a variety of service positions to the college, the university, and the profession. Currently, Ivilina is an Associate Editor for Journal of Commodity Markets. She has chaired search committees, REP committee, was a member of the Governance committee and many others.

Lucian Visinescu (Information Systems and Analytics) Faculty Profile

Lucian Visinescu is an Associate Professor at Texas State University in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics. He received his Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of North Texas, a graduate degree in Databases from the Academy of Economic Studies, a postgraduate degree in Public Relations/Social Communication from the National Academy of Political and Administrative Studies, and an undergraduate degree in statistics from the Academy of Economic Studies. Last three degrees were awarded in Bucharest, Romania. His shared governance experience includes work at the department level participating in the amendment and formulation of different policies.
