P. Michael Supancic (Criminal Justice and Criminology) Faculty Profile
Hello fellow faculty in the College of Applied Arts. I am Dr. P. Michael Supancic, the undergraduate program coordinator in the School of Criminal Justice and Criminology. My tenure (with 2 years remaining) as your Faculty Senator was interrupted by the passage and signing of SB37. In alignment with SB37, I have placed my name on the ballot and am now standing for election to serve a 2-year term to represent the College on a new faculty advisory group that will develop the Faculty Senate by-laws and update policies to comply with the new legislation. During this transitional period in Fall 2025, I believe it is important for the College of Applied Arts to be represented on this advisory council and eventually the 68th Faculty Senate by an elected faculty member who possesses the institutional history and knowledge on the critical importance of maintaining our long-standing commitment to shared governance at Texas State. During my service on 2 prior Senate’s, I believe I have fostered, upheld, and consistently voiced a strong commitment to the values and principles of shared governance. Beyond my tenure as the College’s Senator, I have also carried a long and enduring commitment to service at the School, College and University levels. This service has included being a member on or chairing a wide range of committees, including University Curriculum, College Curriculum, School Curriculum, General Education Council, Faculty Senate/Salary Study Subcommittee, Campus Safety, Marketable Skills, Commencement Team, Phi Beta Kappa Planning, Charter and Bylaws, and as the faculty senate representative on the College of Applied Arts Task Force on Organization Review of the College of Applied Arts.
