Scholarships

The Professional Counseling program is proud to have two scholarships for counseling students. Each scholarship is discussed below and more information on other scholarships and the application process can be found at the Graduate College Scholarship & Fellowships website.  


James Warren Ballard Memorial Scholarship in Counseling

Scholarship Description:
Distributions from the endowment shall be used for scholarships for students pursuing a M.S. degree in Professional Counseling.  Recipient(s) must be enrolled full-time as a student at Texas State University, in need of financial support and have a 3.0 or higher overall GPA.

Fund Amount: $600


Lesley Jones Graduate Fellowship

Scholarship Description:
Fellowships will be awarded to two students who have completed at least 12 credit hours of graduate study in the professional counseling program, have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and will enroll in at least 6 credit hours per semester. Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to be engaged in collaborative research, scholarship and/or learning beyond what is required for classroom performance with one or more faculty members in the professional counseling program. Recipients will, during the year of the award, co-present their learnings with a professor at a professional conference and/or submit them for professional publication. Applicants are required to provide a statement of support from a faculty member who is supervising the applicant's research project.

Fund Amount: $4,250 (to be split between 2 students)
