Public education and outreach are key components to the success of any program. Through an effective outreach campaign, students, staff, and faculty may gain an understanding of how their actions can impact the environment. Texas State’s public education, outreach, and involvement strategy is to promote knowledge and awareness of pollution sources and provide solutions to common issues that can impact stormwater runoff quality.  When our community understands that water quality can become impacted by everyday activities, sources of stormwater pollutants can be eliminated with a simple change of habits or procedures. The objective of this program is to promote a clear identification and understanding of the issues associated with stormwater runoff pollution and to promote community and university ownership. Use the site map below to explore more about the stormwater education and outreach programs implemented by TXST.

City of San Marcos Partnerships

The City of San Marcos and Texas State University have partnered together on the public education, outreach and involvement component of the MS4 Permit to ensure that city residents and the campus community receive a similar stormwater message.

Public Involvement

Public involvement is an integral component of providing stormwater awareness education to the campus community. Getting involved in your community through litter pickup events, storm drain marking opportunities, or other activities is a great way to engage with other students and work toward a common goal.
