Texas State Stormwater

Texas State Stormwater

The Texas State University Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) strives to educate the campus community about stormwater runoff pollution and provide useful, up-to-date information about how we can protect the San Marcos River and surrounding waterways.

In the 2010 U.S. Census, San Marcos was identified as an urbanized area and became regulated under the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Phase II Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit. Texas State University, located within the boundaries of the city's urbanized area, also became regulated under this general permit. The overall goal of the MS4 Permit is to improve the quality of water that flows into receiving waters and prevent pollution to local waterways.

Confetti Concerns

Confetti, if not disposed of properly, is harmful to the environment and can harm the San Marcos River and its inhabitants. Flower petals are a great environmentally friendly alternative to confetti!
