Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2)

  • The TSI assessment is an adaptive, computerized test that covers skills in English language arts and/or math to assess a student’s college readiness for appropriate placement into courses.

Effective January 11, 2021, the only assessment that can be used to satisfy the Texas Success Initiative requirements for college readiness is the Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2).

Test scores achieved prior to this date via the original TSIA remain valid for five years from the test date, and will continue to satisfy TSI requirements until such expiration.

For more information on the TSIA2, please visit the College Board Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) website

  • In-Person Testing

The in-person administration fee that must be paid to the TEMC will depend on how many sections you need to take. The TSIA fee is $25 for the Math Section, $35 for the ELAR Section, and $60 for all sections. The fee for the Accuplacer Advanced Algebra & Functions placement test is $25.

An additional equivalent administration fee can be incurred if your suspended exam is not completed within two business days.

For students with a TSIA2 or Accuplacer voucher from another institution, the proctoring charge is a $30 flat fee.

    Remote Testing

For information about the fee for remote voucher testing, please see Registration Instructions: Remote Testing below.

Note: TEMC cannot provide refunds for any fees or payments beyond five business days from the date of payment. Your payment receipt is valid for 90 days from the date of purchase. It is essential to submit an appointment request within this timeframe to be eligible for testing.

  • This section provides instructions for taking the TSIA exam at Texas State University with the TEMC department. This is for students who plan to attend Texas State University. If you are planning to attend another institution, please open the box for “Students from other colleges needing to take the TSIA or Accuplacer at Texas State using a remote voucher created by your college.”

Step 1: Determine your test date/time

Decide when to take the test. Make an appointment.

After submitting the appointment request form, you will receive a confirmation email for your appointment within 1 business day. That email will also include information about completing your Pre-Assessment Activity, which is required to complete prior to taking your test.

Make sure to note the latest start time the exam is offered. For example, at the San Marcos campus, the latest appointment start time for all TSIA subjects is 1:30 p.m. For San Marcos Campus testing times, visit Testing Lab Hours. For Round Rock Campus testing times, visit TCRR Hours.

    Step 2: Provide payment

    Pay your testing fees online.

Save the printed receipt as proof you paid.

Also note: TEMC cannot provide full or partial refunds for any fees or other payments beyond five business days from the date of payment.

    Step 3 (Test day)

    Bring the following documents:

    1. Valid photo ID (see ID Requirements)
    2. PAA Confirmation.
    3. Testing fee receipt.

  • This section is for students who plan to attend Texas State University but want to take the TSIA at another testing center or online from home.

To test at a site other than Texas State TEMC or with an online proctor, you will need to obtain a remote voucher from our office. Please fill out our Request for Remote Accuplacer/TSI Form at least one week prior to the date you would like to test. You will then receive an email from our office with instructions for completing the registration process. The fee to set up a remote voucher for TSI Assessments is $30 per voucher.
