May 13, 2009

The Mathworks program at Texas State University-San Marcos has received a $25,000 gift from the Siemens Foundation in support of Mathworks Honors Summer Math Camp (HSMC).
The Siemens Foundation grant will support 10 “Siemens Fellowships” for students to attend the HSMC.

The HSMC is the flagship program of Mathworks, with 75 students and counselors participating each summer in an intensive mathematics program for gifted students. The HSMC has been recognized by the American Math Society Epsilon Fund as one of the top mathematics programs in the country with eight grants.

Established in 1998, the Siemens Foundation provides nearly $7 million in college scholarships and awards each year for talented students, teachers and educational outreach initiatives in the United States.  By supporting outstanding students today, the Foundation helps nurture tomorrow’s scientists and engineers.  The Foundation’s mission is based on the culture of innovation, research and educational support that is the hallmark of Siemens’ U.S. operating companies and its parent company, Siemens AG.  For more information, visit www.siemens-foundation.org.
