Mathworks Awarded Grant from the Sid W. Richardson Foundation

Mathworks is delighted to announce that they have received a $96,000 grant from the Sid W. Richardson Foundation.  This grant supports the Richardson Fellows and Richardson Scholars programs that are part of the Texas State Honors Summer Math Camp and teacher preparation programs at Texas State.  The Richardson Fellows program provides a unique early teaching experience for Texas State undergraduates to work with teacher mentors from San Marcos and other districts. The Richardson Scholars program also provides support for students to attend the nationally recognized Honors Summer Math Camp for 6 weeks during the summer. Richardson Scholars take high level mathematics courses, and advanced students work on research projects that are submitted to the Siemens Competition and Intel Competition.

Texas Mathworks is a center for mathematics education at Texas State University that develops model programs and self-sustaining learning communities that engage Texas K-12 students from all backgrounds in doing mathematics at a high level. The Honors Summer Math Camp is a 6-week residential program that attracts students from throughout Texas and nationally. For more information about this and other Mathworks programs see the web at www.txstate.edu/mathworks, or call 512-245-3439.
