The Texas State University Performing Arts Committee: The University Performing Arts Committee promotes artistic excellence through diverse, inspiring and engaging programming for the university and local communities. The University Performing Arts Committee brings outstanding artists to the university to support arts education and raise awareness of the arts by engaging audiences in diverse student-centered events that enrich and enliven the cultural landscape of the campus and surrounding region.

American Society for AestheticsThe American Society for Aesthetics: The American Society for Aesthetics was founded in 1942 to promote study, research, discussion, and publication in aesthetics. “Aesthetics,” in this connection, is understood to include all studies of the arts and related types of experience from a philosophic, scientific, or other theoretical standpoint, including those of psychology, sociology, anthropology, cultural history, art criticism, and education. “The arts” include the visual arts, literature, music, and theater arts. The ASA publishes the Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism, the ASA Newsletter, and a web site. The Society also meets annually in the fall and its regional divisions in the spring.

The Texas State University College of Fine Arts and Communication: Our college comprises five academic units — The School of Art and Design, the Department of Communication Studies, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the School of Music, and the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Division of DanceThe Division of Dance: The dance program at Texas State offers a unique approach to dance that is designed to emphasize biomechanical efficiency and to develop a unique aesthetic approach to dance. Modern dance training has been effective in developing outstanding performers but also fits smoothly into the educational setting, preparing students to enter classrooms and graduate programs. Graduates from our program are prepared to teach modern dance, recreational dance, jazz, and ballet in schools and in private studios. They have the ability to create dance concerts, participate in professional companies, as well as advance to higher education and other dance related fields. The Department offers the BFA in Dance with emphases in: Dance Studies, Performance and Choreography, and Pedagogy.

The Office of the Provost:  The provost’s office works with the President’s Cabinet, the deans and faculty of the academic units, staff, students, the community and other stakeholders to develop academic priorities and provide resources to move them forward. The provost’s office ensures excellence in all teaching, research and service activities that benefit the educational needs of Texas’ diverse population.

Friends of Fine Arts and CommunicationFriends of Fine Arts and CommunicationFriends is a group of people who are committed to supporting students who are pursuing degrees in the arts and communication. Friends helps student pay their tuition, travel to competitions and conferences, and participate in unique learning opportunities. 

The Alkek Library: The Albert B. Alkek Library is the most important information resource of the Texas State University community. The mission of the library is to help our patrons succeed by providing high quality library services and information in a variety of formats to support the university's teaching and research programs. 20 Years of Philosophy DialoguesThe Department of Philosophy and The Philosophy DialoguesThe mission of the Department of Philosophy is to: Preserve, increase, and transmit knowledge of the discipline of philosophy and its applications; Foster critical and moral thinking skills; Support excellence in faculty research and creative activity; and Promote public dialogue on matters of significance throughout the university and community.  The Department offers a BA in Philosophy, undergraduate minors in Philosophy, Religion, and Value Studies, a Graduate Certificate in Professional Ethics, and the MA in Applied Philosophy and Ethics. As part of its dedication to applied philosophy, the department hosts The Philosophy Dialogues, over 100 events each year. These concerts and conversations, lectures, movies, and reading, demonstrations and discussions enact the department's commitment to philosophy engaged with the meanings and concerns of its community.

University BookstoreUniversity Bookstore at Texas State, and the Fan Shop at Bobcat Stadium: University Bookstore provides academic tools, ancillary educational items and educational opportunities, aggregates course material information, maintains campus transaction expertise and provides funding to enrich the educational experience for Texas State students and the quality of life for Texas State students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors

Texas State PresentsTexas State Presents provides Box Office Support for the Performing Arts at Texas State University.  We are grateful for their assistance!

AquBrewAqua Brew: AquaBrew’s mission is to help raise the bar on hospitality in San Marcos by delivering a holistic dining experience that stimulates all the senses. AquaBrew is located at 110 E MLK Dr Suite 130 in San Marcos. The modern brewhouse sits directly behind the bar, enabling our patrons to view our Brewmaster in action. AquaBrew features live music every night, usually at 9pm. Thursdays are Jazz night and Fridays typically feature the blues. 

San Marcos Convention and Vistor BureauThe San Marcos Convention and Visitor Bureau: The SMCVB is providing local transportation for the Mark Morris Dance group, and assistance for local arrangements for the symposium.  The SMCVB supports tourism, conferences, conventions, and other events in San Marcos.
