Scholarly Interest
I am a linguist. My scholarship is focused on language, the use of language in everyday life, and the dynamic interactions of language with socio-cultural institutions, including social media, film, music, popular performances, and religion across Africa and African Diaspora. Broadly, I study how individuals and communities use language interactively to navigate daily life concerns and express cultural ideologies. The themes of my current research include language and health, language and religion, and language and social mobility.
