Texas State University offers a thesis-based Master of Arts degree in anthropology. Students may focus their studies in any of the major fields of anthropology; archaeology, biological anthropology and cultural anthropology.
The department invites applications from well-qualified students who wish to pursue research in any area of anthropology.
The priority deadline for applications from both U.S. Citizens and International students is January 1st of each year.
The department is home to numerous research centers including the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State, the Center for Archaeological Studies, the Center for Arts and Symbolism in Ancient America, and the The Innovative Anthropologies Lab. The department also houses dedicated lab space for each major field of anthropology, including specialized research equipment, which is available to student researchers.
Department faculty are actively engaged in research worldwide, particularly in the United States, Latin America, and Africa. Please see individual faculty pages for research interests and areas of specialization.
