6th International Colloquium on Northeastern Mexico and Texas

The Center for the Study of the Southwest  at Texas State University hosted the 6th International Colloquium on Northeastern Mexico and Texas at the university campus in San Marcos, November 20-22, 2014.

Over forty scholars and government representatives from Mexico’s northern states of Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Coahuila, and Chihuahua, as well as the national office of INAH (Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History) participated in ten sessions for two-and-a-half days. Taking as its theme “One Region, One Borderlands,” the colloquium included presentations on anthropological, archeological, historical, socio-economic, and political topics.

Session sponsors included the INAH, the autonomous universities of Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas, the Institute of Historical Research and the College of Philosophy and Letters of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Along with the Center for the Study of the Southwest, the program received support from the College of Liberal Arts and the Department of Anthropology at Texas State.
