Students become eligible for a TXST ring after completing 75 cumulative credit hours and will receive an invitation to Ring Days to choose their favorite ring style, get sized, and place their order.

A Time-Honored Tradition
The Ring Celebration is more than just an event, it’s a tradition deeply rooted in Texas State pride. During the ceremony, Bobcats dip their new rings into a fountain filled with water from the San Marcos River—a timeless emblem of campus life, beloved by generations of students. This act connects Bobcats to the spirit and tradition the river has carried through campus for more than 100 years.
A Symbol of Success
Upon receiving their ring, Bobcats wear it with the words “Texas State University” facing inward as a personal reminder of their commitment to earning their degree. During commencement, they turn their ring outward—proudly displaying their hard work, success, and Bobcat pride to the world.
