Sigma Iota Rho, Zeta Chapter at Texas State is an organization that brings diverse thinkers and students together to better understand our increasingly globalized society. It is our wish to work with students to maximize their academic success by creating a community of peers in which students can discuss and debate with one another. SIR at Texas State also looks to better individual members through participation in our debates, panel presentations, and group discussions. We highly encourage all International Studies students to become a member and actively participate in Sigma Iota Rho during their time at Texas State.

Membership Requirements
Undergraduate Membership
- 3.3 cumulative GPA and a 3.4 GPA in International Relations/International Studies courses including all relevant subject area (anthropology, economics, foreign languages, geography, history, political science, or related disciplines)
- Junior level standing with at least twenty-one hours of course work toward an International Relations/International Studies major or minor (including at least two courses at 3000 or 4000 levels)
- Full-time student status (12+ semester hours) is required to be a voting member or hold office.
Graduate Membership
- 3.3 cumulative GPA and a 3.4 GPA in a graduate program which focuses on International Studies including courses in relevant subject areas of anthropology, economics, foreign languages, geography, history, political science, and other related disciplines
- Must have at least one complete semester of graduate level work
- Full-time student status (9+ hours) is required to be a voting member or hold office.
Dues & Fees
National dues are $55 per member for lifetime membership and the standard induction kit
Below are details on what is included at the different tiers of induction kits:
- SIR Lifetime Membership Fee with standard regalia: $55; includes certificate, cord, access to electronic journal, and pin.
- SIR Lifetime Membership Fee with Stole in lieu of Cord regalia: $68; includes certificate, access to electronic journal, pin, and stole.
- SIR Lifetime Membership Fee with Enhanced regalia: $73; includes certificate, cord, access to electronic journal, pin, and stole.
