New Student Information

Welcome! We're glad you decided to join the Honors College at Texas State University! As you prepare for the upcoming school year, we have curated a few essential resources that will help you connect with Honors and identify resources to launch your academic career.

Follow each of the steps outlined below. Be aware that you may, at various points in this process, need your TXST student ID as well as access to your Bobcat email and calendar.

NOTE: Current/Continuing students who applied and have been admitted by Feb 1 or Sept 1 will be included in the priority registration group that term. Incoming freshmen are on a different registration cycle built into the New Student Orientation experience and their Honors priority registration does not go into effect until the fall semester.

Step 1: Prepare for New Student Orientation

We highly recommend all incoming Honors College students sign up for an NSO session on dates that include the Honors Open House. These informal social gatherings offer a chance to connect with fellow Honors freshmen, explore Honors spaces, and chat with Honors advisors. Join us from 12pm-2pm!

Step 2: Browse the Honors Course Catalog

After submitting your New Bobcat Enrollment Profile, an academic advisor will provide a Course Recommendation Plan for your first semester & enroll you in 12-15 recommended hours. You'll receive a schedule update 7 days before your NSO session. For more info, visit the New Bobcat Enrollment website.

Step 3: Book an Advising Meeting in Honors

If you have questions or concerns about registration, we encourage you to meet with an Honors advisor. Click the button below for a 20-minute "Initial Advising" appointment with one of our staff or faculty. Note: Appointments are on Microsoft Teams, and you must already have a TXST email to book!

Step 4: Find Housing

The on-campus Honors College community centers around Cibolo Honors House —a Living-Learning Community, with a faculty member in residence, that is based in Cibolo Hall. But you don't have to live in Cibolo; there are many options for campus living. Just make sure to register for Honors US 1100!
