Texas State University does not have a policy regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the classroom, which provides instructors the academic freedom to determine appropriate use for their own courses. Instructors are strongly encouraged to outline their expectations for completing assignments in their courses and provide explicit instructions on what is permissible regarding AI use. Faculty Success has some great resources regarding AI in academia, including guidance on how to talk to students about AI and examples of syllabus statements. The Information Security Office also provides some helpful guidelines regarding the use of common AI tools. The Honor Code Council has also provided guidelines for AI use for both faculty and students below.
