3:00: Performance by Bobcat Country
3:30: Panel
4:45: Reception

Please join us for an afternoon of conversation and song with three remarkable Texas women songwriters! Put on in conjunction with the Texas Women Songwriters Festival, the Center is proud to bring together HalleyAnna Finlay, Tish Hinojosa, and festival founder Mandy Rowden to talk about their careers, the festival, and the lasting legacy of women in Texas music.

HalleyAnna Finlay is a lifelong Central Texan who grew up along the San Marcos River in Martindale. Much of her childhood revolved around spending time at the famed Cheatham Street Warehouse, owned by her father, Kent Finlay. Over the years, she's played with icons in Texas music such as Todd Snider, Hayes Carll, and Terri Hendrix.

Tish Hinojosa has remained a heroine in the Texas music scene for over six decades. Born in San Antonio, Tish's musical style blends Tejano, folk, country, and pop, and her far-reaching appeal has garnered her accolades including a concert at the White House at the invitation of President Bill Clinton. Over the course of her career, she has teamed up with artists such as Joan Baez, Michael Martin Murphey, Flaco Jimenez, Pete Seeger, Dwight Yoakam and many others. Tish's songwriting has inspired generations of younger songwriters, and she is regarded as a matriarch in the world of Texas music.

Mandy Rowden is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and the founder of the Texas Women Songwriters Festival, held annually in Lockhart, TX. A longtime force in Austin's music community, Mandy is an educator, mentor, community organizer, and fierce advocate for women in Texas music. Along with the festival, she is also the founder of Girl Guitar, an Austin-based guitar, songwriting, and rock and roll school for women musicians of all skill levels.

Come early for a 3:00 performance by Bobcat Country – a country ensemble of Texas State student musicians, directed by Mandy. The panel will kick off around 3:30. And make sure to stick around afterwards for some Mexican food and conversation!
