Gypsy Alibi: A Gonzo Memoir with Bob Livingston

Bob Livingston is a celebrated Texas singer-songwriter who came to prominence through his 1970s work in the Austin scene alongside Michael Martin Murphey, Jerry Jeff Walker, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and the Lost Gonzo Band. His Texas career also launched his efforts as a cultural ambassador, first promoting American music on behalf of the State Department across Asia, Africa, and Europe, and later with his group Cowboys & Indians exploring the fusion of American and South Asian musical traditions. Livingston will be discussing his career and art through the lens of his memoir Gypsy Alibi: A Gonzo Memoir (Texas Tech University Press, 2025), awarded the Best First Book in Nonfiction by the Texas Institute of Letters.
