Please join us as we welcome Tamara Saviano to Texas State to discuss her new book, Poets and Dreamers: My Life in Americana Music – the first book in our newly named Gary Hartman Series in Texas Music with Texas A&M Press.

Tamara Saviano has been a tireless advocate for songwriters and Texas musicians for over three decades. In addition to serving as the first woman president of the Americana Music Association and former managing editor of Country Music magazine, Saviano is a Grammy-winning producer, artist manager, and publicist. As an author and a filmmaker, she has shed light on the lives of the songwriters and unsung heroes of Americana music. Part memoir, part oral history, Poets and Dreamers traces Saviano’s journey through the rise of the Americana genre. Spanning more than three decades, Saviano unfolds the story of Americana — country music’s bohemian cousin — from her unique perspectives as a journalist, historian, Grammy-winning music producer, filmmaker, and artist emissary.

Come out to celebrate Tamara's new book, the rededication of our book series, and 25 years of the Center for Texas Music History (2000-2025). In addition to a Q&A with Tamara, we are excited to have singer songwriter Brennen Leigh perform!
