Physics Minor Checklist

This checklist is for advising purposes for BGS students only.


Consult your undergraduate catalog or official degree audit for degree requirements.

  • Twelve advanced hours in the minor coursework are required for the BGS.
  • A 2.25 cumulative GPA must be maintained in all minor courses.
  • No grade lower than a ā€œCā€ will be accepted as credit for BGS minors.
  • Course rotation indications are intended to be used for planning purposes and do not guarantee course availability. "F" indicates "fall," "S" indicates "spring," and "Su" indicates "summer" availability.
  • "Advanced" = Junior/Senior-level (3000-4000) coursework (Prerequisites may be required)

Required:

  • _____ PHYS 1430 - Mechanics (F, S) (Credit for both PHYS 1315 and PHYS 1115 and PHYS 1430 cannot be given. Pre or Co-requisite: MATH 2471 with a C or better or concurrent enrollment in MATH 2471)
  • _____ PHYS 2230 - Introduction to Computational Modeling for Physics (Prerequisite: PHYS 1430 with a grade of "D" or better. Corequisite: PHYS 2425 or PHYS 2435 with a grade of "C" or better.)
  • _____ PHYS 2425 - Electricity and Magnetism (F, S) (Prerequisites: PHYS 1430 and [MATH 2472 or 2473] with grades of C or better)
  • _____ PHYS 2435 - Waves and Heat (F, S) (Prerequisites: PHYS 1430 and MATH 2471 with grades of C or better. Co-requisite: MATH 2472)
  • _____ PHYS 3312 - Modern Physics (F, S) (Prerequisite: PHYS 2435 with a C or better.)
