How to Apply

The CheMIE REU is open to all Chemistry or Biochemistry majors who will have completed at least one year of general chemistry prior to beginning the REU program.

Students who are currently engaged in research may apply, but priority will be given to funding new researchers. All participants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Before you apply students will need…

1 year of chemistry courses completed
- Having completed Organic Chemistry 2 (CHEM 2142) before summer 2026 preferred.
Currently working towards an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or Related Field.
Students must include in their application;
- Personal Statement
- CV/Resume
- Transcripts
- 2 References

This year, CheMIE applications will be submitted and evaluated through the National Science Foundation, ETAP. It’s user-friendly for you, your recommendation letter writers, and for REU administrators!
