      1. The details of the position:

       

      Penetron has an immediate need for a self-driven, detail-oriented person who can communicate clearly and effectively to assume the role of Account Manager in the South-Central (Texas) region to maintain existing customer relationships and develop and retain new customers through technical and sales support.  The role will encompass highlighting the performance benefits of our products, assisting our customers in incorporating our products into their existing projects and in identifying new opportunities.  The Account Manager will work with customers and other project stakeholders and specifiers to understanding how our technologies can improve their projects and overall durability for safer, longer lasting construction. The candidate will report to a regional manager with whom they will work with to plan, organize and implement work efforts. For support they have the necessary tools to carry out our mission and succeed. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to keep up with continuous monitoring and recording tasks with the focus on performance and consistency and still be able to pivot on any given project to adjust to customer and specification requirements.

       

      Skills needed to succeed

       

      An understanding of the construction industry hierarchy and different project phases and tasks required from specification and design to construction.

       

      An understanding of Concrete Technology (practical and theoretical) gained through engineering, construction management, concrete specialist, or similar related fields.

      Ability to work both independently and within a team.

       

      Strong written and communication skills as well as active listening skills.

       

      Computer literate: Must be comfortable with using technology and the software typically utilized such as Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and have an ability to use those resources effectively in achieving job duties. Must also be proficient in various other typical business software such as virtual communication platforms (Zoom, Skype, Teams) shared document platforms (Dropbox) and CRM software (KarmaCRM).

       

      Ability to travel in the designated region on a regular basis (60% of the time) to meet with customers and other construction and design stakeholders, as well as project site visits.

       

       

      What you will be doing

       

      Supporting customers and their existing projects with product specification and product usage, and helping them land new work by meeting with their sales teams and providing periodic but continuous support, education and encouragement.

       

      Identifying and securing new customers.

       

      Researching and following up on new project opportunities in order to find new architects, engineers, contractors or concrete producing customers and secure opportunities for our products to be accepted and used on specific projects.

       

      Attend trade shows, seminars or conferences from time to time.

       

      Gathering industry information and insight on projects, project categories, competitors and other industry changes and report them to the Regional Manager for inclusion or action in the overall Regional or National plan.

       

       

      Work Environment

       

      Full time remote position based out of the South-Central (Texas) area.

       

      Flexible hours but a minimum of eight (8) hours Monday to Friday is required with the possibility of additional time from time to time based on projects and customer demand.

       

      Extensive travel within the region with use of video platforms when necessary to gain expedient access to team-members, concrete providers, construction team members and design/specification stakeholders.

      Salary Range - $55,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience

      Commissions – qualified and paid monthly

      Job Description:

      The Materials Testing Technician will assist in the preparation and testing of laboratory samples, log in project samples, and help maintain a clean and safe working environment. While preferred, prior experience with laboratory and field testing is not required. Bring your curiosity and enthusiasm for solving problems and understanding how things work. You will work with experienced team members in a hands-on environment and qualify to obtain relevant lab certifications. 

      Responsibilities: 

      • Communicate and coordinate with dispatcher for daily assignments
      • Perform laboratory and/or field materials testing of soil, asphalt, masonry, concrete, and aggregate
      • Prepare and log samples
      • Balance competing priorities from multiple project teams 
      • Maintain and organize lab equipment and supplies
      • Understand, follow, and enforce all safety standards

      Requirements:

      • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
      • Accuracy, attention to detail, and timeliness with project results 
      • Ability to obtain the ACI field and laboratory certification within 1 year
      • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability
      • Ability to work in the field locally, as needed
      • Effective verbal and written communication skills
      • Familiarity with MS Office suite, including Excel

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Construction and/or materials testing experience

      POSITION SUMMARY

      This position will report to the Area Technical Services Manager and is responsible for overseeing the quality of the concrete products. Position based in Georgetown, TX and local travel required.

      REQUIREMNETS

      • Develop and maintain up to date knowledge of all governing specifications for concrete products. ie A.S.T.M. and D.O.T.
      • Maintain current knowledge of relevant concrete ingredients and their application (aggregates, cements, admixtures, etc.)
      • Generate mix designs and oversee plant adherence to same.
      • Spot check for proper design, scale weights, water demand, slump, entrained air, yield, unit weight, materials mix, and any other required specifications at field locations and at the plants.
      • Perform physical tests of the concrete at the plant and in the field as required, make appropriate adjustments to in process concrete.
      • Observe and record activities of outside testing agencies and contractors as they relate to and effect both the fresh and finished concrete products.
      • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with customers, government agencies, inspectors, sales, distribution, production, drivers, etc.
      • Keep written daily log of activities and observations and report in writing to management as required. Note misuse of products by driver or customer and take measures to correct same. Report field issues to technical services Manager
      • Input statistical data into the computer on a regular basis.
      • Create and maintain a safe environment not only for yourself but others.
      • Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, and possibly a Monday thru Saturday schedule.

      PREFERRED EDUCATIN & EXPERIENCE

      • Undergraduate degree in Concrete Industry Management preferred. Direct/relevant experience in-lieu of degree considered.
      • 3-5 years in concrete testing experience.
      • ACI Level 1 Field Testing Certified, ACI Strength Testing Technician, ACI Aggregate Testing Technician 1 preferred
      • Strong customer service orientation.
      • Ability to work in a team environment.

      KNOWELDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

      • Working knowledge of ACI and ASTM standards, city and state specifications
      • Ability to teach and present topics
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
      • Computer literacy is required. MS Office experience preferred.
      • Customer service focus to provide solutions to meet/exceed customer requirements
      • Excellent interpersonal skills
      • Good verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers
      • Bilingual in English/Spanish is beneficial

    • Position Summary

      The Intern will provide meaningful, “hands-on” support to various roles within Superior Construction Services. It is a dynamic position designed as a semester program focusing in each of the following areas: Concrete Construction Methods, Blueprint Reading, Surveying and Safety. Superior believes in growing our employees from the ground up and each intern will be evaluated as a potential future, full-time employee.

       

      Essential Duties & Responsibilities

       

      • Participate in hands-on learning of concrete construction methods including rebar tying, concrete forming, anchor bolt setting and pouring and finishing concrete
      • Learn how to read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications
      • Observe, understand and learn how to survey using total station & point files
      • Understand the proper construction procedures to complete different aspects of a project
      • Attend client jobsite meetings with Assistant Superintendent to gain project exposure
      • Help take inventory on material deliveries to jobsite
      • Help improve overall job-site and house cleanliness on a regular basis by removing excess construction material and debris
      • Take site photos daily to document job progress for Project Manager
      • Spend time with Safety Coordinator at jobsites to learn how to recognize hazardous conditions and unsafe acts and their cause and make appropriate corrective measures
      • Learn how to complete a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) effectively and other daily logs and reports
      • Know and apply necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for jobsite activities
      • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include overtime as needed
      • Must be able to travel to construction sites and stay overnight (will be compensated per diem depending on job location)
      • Must have reliable transportation
      • Perform other related duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervisor

       

      Experience and Education Required

      Education & Work Experience:

      • Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science/Management
      • Completed college sophomore or junior year

      Industry Knowledge:

      • Familiarity with construction principles/practices
      • Proficient computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Office suite
      • Knowledge of OSHA regulations

      The AOE Fellowship is open to all CIM students who have interest in sales/marketing, association management or the business side of the concrete industry! This is a great opportunity to network with others in the industry, receive $$ for tuition and build your resume.

      Recipients of this fellowship will receive:

      1. $10,000-$15,000 USD educational stipend for tuition, residence, books and materials
      2. Appropriate recognition in Concrete International magazine and on the foundation website
      3. PAID travel expenses and attendance fees to two ACI conventions
      4. Assistance in finding an industry mentor

      AOE is a fully-owned subsidiary of ACI. This fellowship was created in memory of Wendy Ward, a member of the AOE team for more than a decade. Wendy was a great advocate for the concrete industry and passed away at the early age of 32 from breast cancer. She was known as a leading expert in helping organizations with their marketing and sales efforts.
