IceWind is an extreme energy solution provider of microgrids featuring our international patented micro vertical axis wind turbine. Founded in 2012 in Iceland, IceWind aims to accelerate decentralized power generation that provides dependable energy for remote, underserved, and austere environments. IceWind designs and manufactures our category 4 hurricane survivable wind turbines for telecommunication towers, remote weather stations, emergency beacons, and other applications needing an uninterruptible power supply. Originally focused on fluorescent indicator manufacturing, ION Biosciences' broader mission is to provide complete solutions to the ongoing challenges faced by life science investigators. To this end, ION opened bio-labs at Texas State STAR Park in San Marcos in addition to its chemical manufacturing and research labs located there. With the constant reminders of the dangers our military men and women face in training and combat, Sempulse began developing sensor systems designed specifically for the harsh conditions of battlefield triage spread across the globe. We then realized that we could enhance the entire existing prehospital and multiple casualty spaces with our FieldVitals solution. We are a collection of biomedical, hardware, and software engineers and former U.S. Military Officers located in Arizona, California, Texas, and Illinois. Varian was attracted to Texas State by the availability of state of the art private chemistry labs, the ability to pursue collaborations with faculty in the Department of Chemistry/Biochemistry and access to students in order to create a talent pipeline for the company.
