Emily Summers, EdD, Associate Professor, Qualitative and Mixed Methods Research Faculty Consultant
Dr. Summers is an Associate Professor who joined Texas State University in 2005. She routinely teaches doctoral-level introductory, intermediate, and advanced qualitative research, as well as mixed methods and diversity courses. Her scholarship critically examines issues of equity in education, especially within postsecondary transitions. Dr. Summers has worked with interdisciplinary research teams in writing qualitative and mixed methods studies and evaluations for funded large-scale and competitive national grants awarded from funding agencies such as the Teaching American History Grants and the National Science Foundation. She has had accepted papers and publications in academic venues such as the American Educational Research Association, Ethnographic & Qualitative Research Conference, Interdisciplinary Journal of Problem-based Learning, National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education, International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry, International Journal of Qualitative Methods, International Qualitative Methods, Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association, The Qualitative Report, and Research in Geographic Education. She was a past Visiting Scholar at the University of Alberta. Edmonton, Canada in the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology.
