Concert Band Camp
June 11-16, 2023
The Texas State University Concert Band Camp provides a great opportunity to gather with others from around the state with the goal of making great music all while improving individual musicianship. All participants play in a concert band and attend instrument masterclasses and sectionals. Afternoon sessions include TedTalk style presentations and interactive workshops.
WHO ATTENDS?
Band students entering the 7th–12th grades in the 2022-2023 school year are invited to attend this band camp held on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos. Any graduating senior who will attend Texas State in the fall of 2023 is also welcome to attend. Students are designated in the Middle School Camp or High School Camp based on their 2022-2023 grade status.

- Students are taught each day by university professors and acclaimed school music educators that specialize on each specific instrument.
COUNSELORS
- Students are supervised by certified teachers and upper-level university students.
- All faculty and staff have completed a background check and state-mandated training.
Multi-Cultural Ensembles
Students may choose to enroll in multi-cultural ensemble enrichment courses:
Jazz Band -Open to trumpets, saxophones, trombones, percussion, drumset, guitar, double bass, and piano. Students will learn a variety of big band jazz music a will get to perform on a featured concert on Thursday night!
Salsa Band -Open to trumpets, saxophones, trombones, percussion, bass, piano. Students work with our Latin music faculty to learn salsa style music and present a concert on Thursday night!

Concert Band Camp Costs
- Resident: $500 (Includes housing and all meals)
- Commuter: $320 : (Includes Sunday dinner and M-F lunch, no housing; commuters can opt-in for evening activities and pay for campus dinner)
Available Concert Band Camp Scholarships / Rebates
- $50.00 Scholarship: Oboe or Bassoon player
- $50.00 Scholarship : Percussionist who attends both Concert Band Camp AND Percussion Camp
- $50.00 rebate: Ten or more students attending from same school (Note: This rebate will be applied the week camp begins to your original payment method)
In addition, the following honor band/orchestra scholarships are available. (One scholarship per student - choose highest level from the 2022-2023 academic year. You will be asked to provide documentation when you register online.)
- $50.00: Participant in TMEA/ATSSB Region Band/Orchestra Concert
- $100.00: TMEA/ATSSB Area Band/Orchestra Qualifier
- $300.00: Participant in TMEA/ATSSB All-State Band/Orchestra Concert
