Welcome to the Texas State Bobcat Marching Band's Featured Twirler audition page! Our featured twirlers possess a high level of technique and artistry, and can adapt their talent and skills to suit a variety of musical styles. We are excited that you are interested in joining us. Audition Overview

The audition process consists of two rounds. If you are interested in auditioning for a featured twirler position, please carefully read the information below regarding dates and application forms.

ROUND 1 - ONLINE APPLICATION & SUPPORTING MATERIALS (Due March 1)

• Completed application (available online on this webpage February 1, or earlier)
• Two letters of recommendation (uploaded with your online application)
• Full length picture in costume (uploaded with your online application)
• Performance video 1 - create a routine for the pregame selection "Texas State Fanfare & Hill Country Theme" using batons only. (uploaded as a YouTube link with your online application)
• Performance video 2 - no more than 8 minutes total of CURRENT videos from performances with a high school band, twirling competition, or current solo work, etc. (uploaded as a YouTube link with your online application)

PLEASE PREPARE THE MATERIALS ABOVE, AND SUBMIT THEM WITH YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION NO LATER THAN MARCH 1.

ROUND 2 - INTERVIEW & LIVE AUDITION (Scheudled by appointment)

Candidates will be informed no later than March 15 by email if they have been selected for a interview & live audition. This process will include performing two routines; the pregame selection "Texas State Fanfare & Hill Country Theme" and a 2-3 minute routine of your choosing. These will be scheduled at a time that meets with the candidate and committee's availability. In the event that an in-person interview and audition isn't possible, a live video conference meeting may be scheduled.

Audition Details & Dates

February 1: Featured Twirler application available online

March 1: Featured Twirler applications due (closes at noon)

Early March: Twirler applications reviewed

March 15: selected candidates emailed informed if they will receive a live audition & interview

Scheduled by appointment: Twirler live auditions on TXST Campus (invited candidates will receive an email with additional instructions prior to the appointment.) In the event that an in-person interview and audition isn't possible, a live video conference meeting may be scheduled. 

Late April: Featured Twirlers will be announced
